LISA MANTCHEV

This is the launch party for

JINX AND THE DOOM FIGHT CRIME!

(The book is released February 13th)

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23RD

7 PM in the CARVER ROOM

PORT ANGELES PUBLIC LIBRARY

Jinx and her little brother, the Doom, are pretty typical kids—except when they turn into superheroes and fight crime—in this relatable celebration of siblings and imagination.

A typical day for Jinx and the Doom looks like this: wake up, eat breakfast, brush teeth—then FIGHT CRIME! These rambunctious kids used to fight each other, until one day they realized that they could use their powers for good instead of evil. So now they protect the planet! Defend the innocent! And then stop to have lunch.

This is Lisa Mantchev's fourth children's picture book; her first picture book, Strictly No Elephants, garnered rave reviews and is published in nine countries.

Lisa is best known as the author of the young adult fantasy trilogy, The Théâtre Illuminata, which began in the summer of 2006, after a friend's dare to write a novel. Eyes Like Stars, the result of the dare, was nominated for the Andre Norton and the Mythopoeic Awards.

Lisa began writing and performing in plays when she was a child. She wrote, directed, and produced her own children’s play at the local community theater when she was sixteen. That won her two scholarships to University of CA, Irvine, where she continued to study theater and playwriting. Currently, Lisa lives here on the Olympic Peninsula with her family and three hairy miscreant dogs.
